Strong performance of U23 team Back to news items

Sunday Lotto Belisol U23 could secure, in the time trial in Borlo, the overall victory in the Lotto Top Competition. The team stood as leader at the start and had to become fifth to keep the first place. To leave nothing to chance, the guys explored the route on Friday.

Kurt Van De Wouwer, sports director: "There always is a national test time trial in Borlo, but the route had changed a bit, so we explored on Friday. What the time trial on Sunday concerns, the most important thing was to maintain our classification. We started a bit too slow, afterwards we could keep up with the competitive teams and we finished on the fifth place. That was enough to take the overall victory in the Lotto Top Competition with a lead of six points."

"This victory is ranked highly. For example Wallonie Bruxelles, a pro team, competes in it. EFC-OmegaPharma-Quick.Step is present. It are the better youth teams who take part in this competition. During the races we performed well as a team, without having real individual highlights."
